Security Signals — a useful bonus check, not a security scan

WebTality is a website vitality checker, not a security scanner. But GET-IT also specialises in cyber security — so while WebTality is already reading your site, it takes a quick look at a few baseline trust signals too. Nothing more, and nothing this page will pretend is more.

Why this is here at all

A quick look while we're already there

Think of it like having your tyres checked while the car's already in for a service.

It isn't the reason you booked it in — but if something obvious is wrong, you'd want to know before you drove off.

What's actually checked

Three baseline signals, plainly explained

Nothing here needs technical knowledge to understand — each one is a simple yes/no that says something about how well the basics are configured.

SSL validity & expiry

The certificate that shows your site as "secure" in a browser. We check it's valid now, and how many days remain before it expires.

DMARC presence

A setting on your domain that helps stop other people sending emails that look like they're from you.

SPF configuration

A related setting that lists which mail servers are actually allowed to send email on your domain's behalf.

Worth being clear about

What this is — and isn't

This isn't
  • A penetration test
  • A vulnerability scan
  • Breach or dark web intelligence
  • A full domain security assessment
This is
  • Three quick, well-known trust signals
  • Checked while the wider site scan is already running
  • A flag if something obvious needs attention
  • A bonus, not the headline

That's what Cyber Vitals is for

If you want a proper outside-in security view of your domain — email authentication in full, infrastructure exposure, breach intelligence — Cyber Vitals is GET-IT's dedicated tool for that. WebTality's three signals are a bonus glance, not a substitute for it.

Questions

Common questions

Why does a website checker look at security at all?

Because GET-IT already specialises in cyber security, and these three signals are cheap to check while the rest of the site is already being read. It's a useful extra, not a reason to think of WebTality as a security tool.

If one of these fails, does that mean my site's been hacked?

No. An expiring certificate or a missing DMARC record is a configuration gap, not evidence of a breach. It's worth fixing, but it isn't itself a sign anything has gone wrong.

Can WebTality fix these for me?

No — it flags what it finds. Fixing a certificate or a DNS record is usually a short job for whoever manages your hosting or domain, or GET-IT can help directly.
